Where Did Evil Come From? Does Hell Exist? Why?

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

God is Creator and Lord. His rules are above all others.

God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27.

He created male and female. Two genders. No more.

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”. Genesis 1:28.

God performed the very first marriage ceremony and set the precedent as being between one man, one woman, period.

Under God, mankind was to be ruler of the planet.

8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. Genesis 2:8-9.

His plan for the planet was a paradise with perfect provision. No death, no sorrow, no shame.

“Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17.

God is Love. Within Love is liberty. Thus, within the perfect paradise was the provision of choice. Freedom to choose, between life and death, good and evil.

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” Genesis 3:1.

The devil was created by God with beauty and splendor, however, he too had choice. He chose pride—it was his downfall. Isaiah 14:12-14; Revelation 12:7-9.

The downfall enraged the demon; who lashed out against God the only way he was able—by tempting God’s people. Adam and Eve yielded to the devil’s temptation and were instantaneously naked.

Up to that moment, they had been clothed from the inside out; like the animals and birds. However, they weren’t clothed with feathers and fur, they were clothed with the glory and presence of God radiating from the inside out. But the moment they sinned, Adam’s name could’ve been changed to Ichabod, which means, the glory has departed. God is light and in Him is no darkness, at all. (1 John 1:5).

But it didn’t affect just them. Their sin corrupted the DNA of all mankind; as evidenced by the first person ever born—murdering the second. Cain killed his brother, Abel. But not before God warned him that sin wanted to devour him, but he must subdue it, have dominion over it. Genesis 4:7.

Cain chose sin. So have you. As have I. So has every other person ever born…all but One.

God makes it perfectly clear. Sin exists. Evil exists. It crouches like a lion, coils like a snake, ready to strike—but you must subdue it, have dominion over it.

But alas, we can’t. The sin nature, the venom, is too strong. We fail. We fall. We succumb to sin. There is no hope.

And yet, there is—in One.

One said, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28.

According to the Creator, and His Word, there is a hell created for the devil and his angels…not people. However, unfortunately, many people will go there.

“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:41-46.

Hell is a place of eternal torment, worse than anything this world can deliver.

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—where, ‘Their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’

And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—where ‘Their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’

And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire—where ‘Their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ Mark 9:42-48.

Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:14.

1 John 3:10-12  In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
